From New York to Tokyo, London to Sydney, the latest craze is drinking champagne with a straw! An idea launched by the prestigious Piper Heidseick house to surprise and enchant the world of night owls. The product in question - a 25cl bottle - is dressed in a smart red and gold sleeve for the occasion.

A trend is born

The daring idea, conceived in 2000 in the heart of one of Champagne's leading houses, was to rekindle the appeal of quarter-litre bottles of champagne, taking it from the stuffy business class trays of airlines to the bars of trendy clubs and luxury hotels.

However to win over this new clientele on the look-out for originality, the little bottle needed a helping hand to look the part. Throughout the world, Champagne is immediately identified with its famous curved bottle, so only the design could be relied on to express the charm and delightful appeal of this stylish new champagne concept. Piper Heidseick opted for a flamboyant red shrink sleeve with distinctive gold lettering. The Baby Piper was born and with it an exciting new trend in the champagne world.

A second skin: the quintessence of SLEEVER®

The uniquely sensual lacquered effect results from the intrinsic qualities of the sleeve envelope combined with practically zero tolerance positioning thanks to an exclusive shrink process on POWERSKINNER® LS4 for a second skin finish. Production was entrusted to partner company Pierrel on a site devoted entirely to the wines of Champagne.

If further Proof of its success were needed, the famous "Piper red" bottle is now available in 75cl in the United States and jazzed up with gold bubbles for a limited series in Japan. From a collectible, SLEEVER® has turned this product it into a formidable benchmark.
